After a short spell with Joomla I changed to WordPress, pulled in by its guarantee of a simple establishment and direct topic customizations. Not long after graduating, I collaborated with a companion of mine to frame a WordPress organization in Malta. I longed for a future where we could work from an area based on our personal preference where we can be most producti ve.Honestly, I had a couple of short stretches working in workplaces while on summer break when I was an understudy, and I loathed the workplace issues and time squandered because of consistent interferences. I am likewise particularly into tech and love having the option to settle on my own decisions concerning my work area, seat and other equipment and programming. This is generally unrealistic in an office situation. Another large drawback was the lost time in driving and being trapped in rush hour gridlock jams. With that at the top of the priority list, you will comprehend that Im just for remote work and get myself truly agreeable in such an arrangement. It is somewhat harder to select individuals who can work remotely, as you have to have a high feeling of self-governance and have the option to compose your day and propel yourself. So that is one of the difficulties without a doubt, albeit these days it is getting simpler to discover individuals who as of now have involvement in remote work as it is turning out to be increasingly more famous around the world.Perhaps the one thing that office-bound groups have that I miss is the kinship and union that is worked by an assembled group seeking after a specific objective. It can in any case be available in a remote group however its not as unmistakable. That is the reason yearly withdraws can be an extraordinary instrument for remote teams. You and your significant other are living and filling in as computerized migrants. What were the greatest downsides, assuming any, of this lifestyle?Jean Galea:Lets move the disadvantages. The greatest test is the way that being continually progressing makes it exponentially harder to frame schedules and have an agreeable work space where everything works and you can simply stroll in and begin getting things done.On the other hand, a computerized traveler way of life will remunerate you with unfathomable encounters (and difficulties) that will stay with you for a mind-blowi ng remainder. The experience of drenching oneself in entirely unexpected societies will allow you to acknowledge things on a more profound level with the goal that they can turn out to be a piece of your personality. What are your preferred improvement devices and why?Jean Galea:I utilize Sublime Text for code altering and Mamp Pro for setting up a nearby server condition. Nowadays my advancement time is constrained yet when I do bounce into code those are the principle instruments I use. As a group we likewise depend a great deal on Slack and Atlassians JIRA and Confluence to deal with our ventures and interior correspondence. You can likewise find out pretty much all the product I use over on my blog.So far, youve had a few effective WordPress ventures. Do you have certain models to decide if an undertaking may be successful?Jean Galea:I attempt to look past my own thoughts and dreams and ask individuals in the network whether they would have a requirement for whatever venture I co njured up. In the event that there is a staggering positive reaction, Ill feel free to build up a first model. Theres a great deal to be said on this subject, however, and there are numerous approaches to make a fruitful section with WordPress items. We have a couple of scenes handling this very subject on Mastermind.fm, incorporating a meeting with Pippin Williamson who is a genuine ace at making progress again and again with a few products. You may likewise be keen on these articles:ANDREY RARST SAVCHENKO INTERVIEWTONY PEREZ INTERVIEW †CEO AND CO-FOUNDER OF SUCURIAHMAD AWAIS INTERVIEW †WORDPRESS CORE CONTRIBUTORHow did you choose to make the WP RSS Aggregatorâ plugin? RSS isn't that well known nowadays.Jean Galea:I made the module for two reasons. In the first place, I had been trusting that the lucky time will make a module and submit it to the WordPress repo lastly had some an ideal opportunity to deal with something. Besides, I required an approach to import WordPre ss employments and news from others destinations onto my WP Mayor blog. Along these lines, equipped with an utilization case and some time, I felt free to make the principal cycle of the module which was sufficient for my straightforward needs at the time. What occurred next will answer the second piece of your inquiry. Highlight demands began pouring in by means of the modules bolster gathering on .organization and that prompted me making premium addons for the first center module. That center module has obviously additionally made some amazing progress from where it began in 2012, generally on account of the fantastic designers on our team. Its been very nearly a long time since youve began Mastermind.fm. How has this experience been for you?Jean Galea:Ive consistently felt happy with composing, yet talking isn't something I consider to be one of my regular qualities. So above all else, having a digital broadcast was to move myself to improve and build up my talking aptitudes, as th is is without a doubt a significant device in a business people arsenal. The research is the equivalent across blogging and podcasting, however podcasting is more earnestly as youre recording everything live and need to keep things streaming consistently. Plunking down to record a digital broadcast is a substantially more extreme experience for me contrasted with composing a blog entry. Recording a webcast takes 30 minutes to one hour while composing a blog entry can take a few hours or even spread over a couple days.Talking about Mastermind.fm explicitly, its been a marvelous excursion up until now. Ive been honored to have a great co-have in James, who has a ton of involvement with the area of open talking. Doing the web recording with him encourages me improve a lot snappier than if I needed to do it on my own. Moreover, the general purpose of Mastermind.fm was to open our private brains meeting to people in general as we both felt that we were sharing and talking about points that would be valuable for some different WordPress business visionaries. I think about this task as a decent method of offering back to the WordPress people group, which has given me such a great amount in the previous ten years. We have now begun welcoming visitors on the show and this will offer us the chance to have conversations about much more themes and have more perspectives on things. Ultimately, we have likewise been fortunate to discover supports at an opportune time and this causes us keep the show self-practical and feasible in the long term.To be effective, you said one ought to learn constantly. Do you have somebody you at present turn upward to or follow? What do you read during your extra time?Jean Galea:That is without a doubt my proverb. I dont have a specific individual I turn upward to or follow. Ive never had icons and accept that one should pioneer their own path throughout everyday life. Having said that, I do appreciate perusing accounts of individuals who are ef fective in various everyday issues and consistently gain so much from their lives. I read about a wide range of subjects. Aside from tech and business, I likewise appreciate finding out about way of thinking and brain science, with a decent novel tossed in occasionally for good measure. With a few needs to shuffle and the fervor of living abroad, what does your common workday resemble? How might you portray your workflow?Jean Galea:Well, there just isnt an average workday truly! I attempt to shuffle numerous things and do as well as can be expected to possess enough energy for work, wellness and sports just as my family. Ive expounded on my work process on my blog if youd like to get more top to bottom about the apparatuses and procedures I use.If you had one guidance provide for a hoping for designer, what might it be?Jean Galea:I would advise them to engage in the WordPress people group directly from the beginning. Go to WordCamps, join bunches like Advanced WP on Facebook, WP Chat or the Post Status people group, add to web journals and discharge modules on the .organization module repository. The more you get included and make associations, the quicker youll make progress. The people group is by a wide margin the best thing about WordPress, Ive met numerous inconceivably great individuals in my excursion that have become companions past work and I cannot be appreciative enough for this experience. This closes our Jean Galea meet. In the event that you happen to have any inquiries, if it's not too much trouble don't hesitate to submit them beneath. Well take a stab at getting Jean back to answer them.

Education Among the Pakistani Women Essay Example for Free

Instruction Among the Pakistani Women Essay Presentation Instruction is maybe the primary wellspring of human scholarly turn of events and a basic factor relating to way of life. Training here alludes to all guidelines got by a kid, regardless of whether at home, play area, or school. Persistent increment in populace and declining resources in government funded instruction bring forth a genuine predicament for creating nations. Like the majority of rest of the creating scene, Pakistan is known to be a male overwhelmed nation and positions as the seventh generally crowded of the world. The sex proportion is 105.7 men to each 100 ladies, with a general education pace of just 45%; 56.5 percent for guys and 32.6 percent for females in 1998 (Jehan, 2000). For a considerable length of time ladies have been doing combating for correspondence, yet the general public keeps on molding the cliché perspective on ladies and is answerable for the lower status of ladies. This paper intends to investigate the variables deterring Pakistani ladies, explicitly in provincial zones where they can't get training. The results they face because of absence of scholarly open doors are likewise talked about nearby a detailed examination relating to different sociological ideas presented in the course. This is a continuous social and policy centered issue, which mirrors the degenerate government and extraordinary abstract understandings of the strict teachings. The status of Pakistani ladies mirrors the mind boggling exchange of numerous elements, for example, social, social, and strict perspectives. Moreover, the sexual orientation inclinations, geological areas, and social classes represent a few troubles for Pakistani ladies. Absence of instruction clearly upsets their common sense in the workforce alongside expanded ignorance about wellbeing and inability to get to lawful rights for abuse from the male commanding society. The social and social point of view of Pakistani society is principally male centric. At a beginning period people are partitioned into two separate universes, this turns into a lifestyle. For ladies home is characterized similar to the legally ideological space while, the men command the world outside the home. This bogus ideological separation among inside and outside universes is upheld by the thought of respect and the custom of purdah (cloak, the isolation of ladies from seeing men or outsiders) in Pakistan (Country Briefing Paper, 2000). The male respect is related with the women’s sexual conduct, the family’s respect hold extraordinary accentuation on women’s sexuality. In spite of the fact that the ladies are not precluded from working, simultaneously they should immovably observe the guidelines of profound quality. They may feel a job strain, to be a â€Å"good† girl or spouse or to reserve the privilege to carry out a responsibility they wish to do. Status is characterized by your social area, and ladies by and large face ordinary partiality as a result of their sexual orientation. Pakistan, being a creating nation, has a lower by and large status on the planet. Pakistani ladies have numerous statuses; one being a â€Å"Pakistani†, this anyway is an accomplished or attributed social position. Which means it tends to be accomplished either by taking birth in the nation, or by applying to turn into a resident. Being Pakistani isn't her lone social position, when she’s conceived; she’s a little girl (attributed status), when she gets hitched; she’s a spouse (accomplished status), and afterward when she has kids she’s a mother (accomplished status). The status as far as simply involving a position; the 3 distinct sculptures that the Pakistani ladies accomp lish are girl, spouse, and mother. She isn't known for something besides that. Once in a while are they known for ‘working women’, or any sort of occupation positions. The way of life takes a gander at them as that's it, nor are they expected to have some other status. Status as far as notoriety or respect; for quite a long time ladies have been battling for balance, equivalent rights, respect, and regard; in spite of the entirety of that, it is as yet a progressing battle. Pakistani ladies have a credited lower status, this implies ladies don’t procure or progress in the direction of being a lower status; they are given it by birth. Most Pakistani families long for a child, so he could deal with the privately-owned company, however on accepting a little girl, they are embarrassed. Consequently this beginnings her being useless according to her folks. As she becomes more established, the neighbors begin to take a gander at her that way, etc. In the long run the general public glances at her that way and accordingly, it turns into a standard, or part of a belief system. A Pakistani women’s life especially in rustic zones is an excursion of subjection. As a lady is growing up she should hear her out dad who chooses whether she gets instruction and who she would wed. After marriage her better half and parents in law are the chiefs for her sake, who basically choose what number of youngsters she would have and whether she is permitted to work outside the family unit. In a woman’s senior years her children choose the destiny for the remainder of her outstanding life. This is the standard in Pakistan; the conduct desires for ladies are to tune in to the guys that rule their lives. Besides the whole society goes about as an oppressor forcing cliché jobs upon them. All things considered, little girl, spouse, mother: in each of the three of these jobs, the lady is relied upon to be explicitly ‘pure’, that is, not to submit any demonstrations of infidelity. In each of the three, she should secure her family’s respect by lea rning regular general work aptitudes, flawless habits, and unassuming dressing. Ladies are a piece of a circle: this circle begins from being a little girl, being a spouse, lastly a mother; it finishes in the mother bringing forth another little girl who should now follow her mother’s strides and carry on with a real existence suggestive to that of her mom. This social structure mirrors the jobs of ladies in a stunning new light, a light that scarcely, if not in the slightest degree, arrives at the west. The daughter’s job: begins when she is naturally introduced to the family. Her job in her family is to clean the house, deal with the ensemble close by her mom, serve food, and if she’s fortunate, go to class in an exceptionally unhygienic, minimal populated school. She is to get hitched at an early age and this regularly brings about her not completing her training. Her dad chooses whom she ought to wed; this is a procedure with both social and strict criticalness. As indicated by Islam, it is as of now kept in touch with whom you will wed. By the dad being the individual who chooses, that gives him the â€Å"higher authority† or â€Å"higher status† as the little girl must be given over by a wali (the current guardian, either her most established sibling or father). The job of the spouse: in most sense the job of the wife is fundamentally the same as that of the girl; she should keep the respect of the husband by staying silent, after his lead, and verifiably being a slave. The job of mother: this is the point at which the little girl figures out how to take all the social rules and the standards and apply it on her youngsters. Hence the cycle starts from the very beginning once more. All together for this cycle to break the ladies need to see their jobs in insightful of the master plan. They have to understand that they have voices and that they can change their confidence. Despite the fact that this doesn't mean conflicting with their religion, yet to battle for their privileges in a politically tainted overseeing framework. Procuring scholarly and profession arranging assets is unquestionably a productive and intelligent beginning to exonerating them from this circle. Then again, the political and social foundation undoubtedly attempts to obs truct these endeavors. The ramifications of these social necessities and absence of instruction for women’s financial exercises are cataclysmic. The female work power interest is known to be the second most reduced for Pakistan on the planet (Jehan, 2000). Their high commitment in horticulture and the casual division of work will in general go unrecorded by the insights. Be that as it may, in the least fortunate districts, a few open doors happen for ladies to work outside territories for household administrations, for example, sweepers, development laborers, and employed workers. Ladies are likewise confined to a few enterprises, for example, materials, food and drinks and pharmaceuticals. This standard aides the social conduct of Pakistani ladies, where they can't secure high paid occupations and limits ladies to employments that are most minimal paid and require less portability. These sex characterized jobs shift from the topographical district in which they live, where a few regions are stricter. The primary concern is the absence of training among the provincial territories restricting their working abilities. The absolute number of females with not exactly essential instruction is 18% (Ibraz, 1993). The circumstance is better in urban territories where ladies have conquered a portion of the conventional limitations because of instructive offices. Another factor that confines Pakistani females from procuring more significant level of instruction is the customary guideline of wedding them at an early age. The normal time of marriage is expressed at 17 years for females (Ibraz, 1993). After marriage the convictions of the spouse meddle; bringing about his social conduct of making his better half deal with the family unit and his family as opposed to proceeding with further instruction or working outside the family. Social thoughts, for example, ensuring the family’s respect bring about ladies scarcely speaking with men outside their family. In the event that any correspondence is important, they alter their strict headgear to ensure that appropriate convention is followed and discuss just with insignificant eye to eye connection and energy. Another social thought, for example, respect killings additionally urges guys to caution females of the results of not following the standards and obviously, urge them significantly more to complete an execution if the lady is in reality seen as liable. Additionally, in provincial zones, a typical social thought is that training urges ladies to oppose their individual families. This

Tips On Writing A Reflection Paper By

Certain students think that reflection papers are their license to write an informal, if not sloppy paper. Contrary to this popular opinion, the reflection paper is still an academic paper. It is more personal than, say, a research paper, but it is not exempted from academic writing standards.Reflection papers can be about most anything. Professors often assign reflection papers to their students to give them an opportunity to look back into their experiences, to process their thoughts, and then to speak their minds. Indeed, the reflection paper is more relaxed than an argumentative essay as one does not need to persuade the reader, only to tell them what you experienced and what you think. Thus, the only goal when writing a reflection paper is to be honest and clear. We know this because writers at have worked on countless reflection essays, not to mention speeches and personal profiles. What is a reflection paper?A reflection paper is a personal essay. Its goal is to let the studen ts take on a personal approach on certain topics and to express their thoughts and feelings toward it. It is a reflectionthe student is expected to think about the topic, whether it is a film, a book, an experience, or a topic from class. This is where students are expected to think about the major ideas of the material and what they think about it. You should also know that, while you are primarily writing about your own thoughts and feelings, your reflection paper also reveals your perception of the material and/or the world. These are the things that you need to keep in mind while writing your reflection paper. The goal is to be clear and direct about what you want to say.Questions to ask yourself while reflectingReflecting on an experienceWhat about the experience struck you the most? In other words, what about the experience do you remember the most? Was your experience good or bad? What are your thoughts or your opinion about it? (e.g. Were you offended? Does it have a good messa ge?)How does this experience relate to your discussions in class?Reflecting on a book or filmWhat is the book about? What are the major themes?Who is the author, and what is his stance on the themes of the book? What is your reaction to the book as a whole? (e.g. do you like it?)If you are focusing on the main character, who is this main character and what draws you towards them?If focusing on something else, describe this and explain their significance to the book. What is your reaction towards this aspect of the book? How does the aspect you discussed relate to class discussions? What is the significance of the book or the aspect you discussed to your life or to the world in general?Reflecting on a projectHow would you describe your experience working on this project?OR: Give a brief summary of your experience working on the project. What are the pros and cons of this project? Was it helpful in deepening your understanding of the class subject matter? Is it relevant to the real world?Ref lecting on a courseWhat were the classes like? What did you look forward to in class? What did you learn in class (i.e. theories, concepts)? What, in your opinion, is the most important lesson you learned from this class? Is this course, the things you learned from this class, relevant? How?Tips on writing a reflection paperWith the questions above in mind, you should already have an idea on what a reflection paper looks like. Regardless of the topic of your reflection, these tips will help you put your reflections into words.Decide on your topic or focus. In the rare instances where the professor assigns topic options, this is the time to think and decide on the topic that you are most passionate about. If, however, the topic is definite, like a film or book, take this time to consider what part of the material you want to focus on. This can be a scene, a metaphor, a theme, or even a feeling evoked by this material.Take down notes. If you know that you will write a reflection paper pri or to the event or to your access to the material, it is always better to take down notes as you go. If you were not able to do this, you can still think about the experience in retrospect and write down your thoughts.Word maps. Word maps are friendlier versions of an outline. This is a great preliminary step for organizing your thoughts and ideas into an outline.Stick to your outline. Since reflection papers tend to be personal it is very easy to digress. To avoid this, make a foolproof outline and follow it.Start with the body. Like any essay, the introduction to your reflection paper should give an overview of what you will say in the entirety of the essay. So, it is best to write the body before the introduction to avoid being stumped.Do not get too personal. Even in a reflection paper, there is an unspoken limit as to how much you should write about your feelings. The goal of a reflection paper is to arrive at a logical opinion or stance on the topic. Thus, your feelings, while equally important, should only be a starting point for your analysis of the experience.Write in first person. The reflection paper is a little less formal than a research paper, so you are allowed to use the first person when talking about your own thoughts and experiences. ButDo not use informal language. You will still submit your reflection paper to your professor, so make sure that your language is suitable for the academe. Follow format specifications, too, if there are any.Give an overview orsummary. Before you start writing your reflections, always introduce what you are talking about. This gives your reader context, especially where you (your ideas) are coming from.Relate to your class. This is a must. Everything that your professor asks you to do boils down to whatever you discussed in class. Even if he/she does not explicitly ask you to relate the experience or book to your discussions, doing so will demonstrate your understanding of the class.Essay writing service for stu dentsAsk for help. Women, Race, and Poverty Race often plays an important role in how an individual is viewed based on societal standards and quality of life. Lungs Essay Research Paper Just as a free essay sample

Lungs Essay, Research Paper Merely as a fire needs O to fire, the human organic structure besides needs a uninterrupted supply of this indispensable component for the procedure of burning that goes on invariably in every cell. We normally do non believe of a organic structure metamorphosis as burning, yet that is what is: the controlled combustion of saccharides, fats, and proteins to supply energy. The occupation of the respiratory system is to supply the O that combines with these fuels in each of the one million millions of cells, and to transport away the waste merchandise of C dioxide. And so we breathe # 8211 ; 14 times a minute, a pint of air per breath, more than ten 1000 quarts of air a twenty-four hours. Not all that comes in, of class, is O. Merely about one # 8211 ; fifth of the air we breathe is this life # 8211 ; prolonging component. But it makes up an of import portion of our organic structures and our lives. At any given minute, half the organic structure # 8217 ; s weight is oxygen. The overpowering part, by the way, is non in the signifier of a gas, the manner we normally think of O. We slackly use the word # 8220 ; respiration # 8221 ; to depict the procedure of taking in O and allowing out C dioxide. To be conscientiously accurate, respiration refers to the ultimate exchange that takes topographic point in the cells themselves, the bringing of O and the remotion of C dioxide. This gas transportation, as it is scientifically known, is at the bosom of human life. If O did non arrive, if the C dioxide were non removed, our lives would be suddenly shortened. The exchange must take topographic point in every cell, including those distant from the O # 8211 ; rich atmosphere that surrounds us. Obtaining that O and get downing it on its all # 8211 ; of import trip through the organic structure begins with those critical variety meats, the page 2 lungs. A Expression At The Lungs Although cardinal to the critical and complex procedures of all organic structure cells, the lungs are automatically simple in signifier, map, and rule. They are cone # 8211 ; shaped, pink in colour, and weigh a little more than a lb each. The normal lungs of a healthy male have a capacity of about 10 quarts. ( Those of females are somewhat smaller. ) Lungs are stalwart variety meats. If one is diseasedand removed, the respiratory procedure continues adequately without it. Of the two lungs, the right is larger as the bosom takes more room on the left side. Each lung is divided into lobes, which are fed by divisions of the bronchial tube, taking from the windpipe ( trachea ) . The right lung has three lobes, upper, center, and lower. The left has merely two, upper and lower. The lobes are separate from one another and are marked by channels on the surface, known as crevices. These give of import information to physicians, as they can be seen on a thorax x # 8211 ; beam. By looking carefully at their place and observing, for case, whether they have moved up or down, they can state whether you have suffered prostration of portion of your lung. Locating The Lungs The lungs prevarication within the flexible rib coop. They usually have merely one fixed fond regard ( at the voice box ) and therefore have considerable scope of gesture. The bases of the lungs rest above the stop, the chief musculus external respiration. Each lung is surrounded by a glistening membrane, the splanchnic pleura. The page 3 interior surface of the thorax has a similar membrane, the parietal pleura. Lubricate by fluids, these membranes glide swimmingly against each other when we breathe. Normally there is no infinite between them, but entry of bacteriums, perforating lesions, or disease may divide the pleura. Inside The Lung The interior wall of the lung has a surface like a sponge. It is composed of more than three hundred million bantam air sacs, each barely more than a dumbbell in diameter, and each unfastened to the ambiance at one terminal. The combined surface country of these pouch is so great that if they were flattened out, they would cover a tennis tribunal. The alveolar walls are merely a individual cell midst, instantly beneath them, besides encased in a wall of individual # 8211 ; cell thickness, is the capillary bed of the lungs. How The Lungs Work If the lungs were removed from the chest, they would shrivel like chapfallen balloons. They are held unfastened by surface tensenesss, which is created by fluid produced by a thin liner around the lungs and the chest wall, the pleural membrane. To visualize this, think of two sheets of glass. If dry and laid on top of one another, they can be easy separated, but if wet the surface tenseness of the H2O sticks the glass sheets together. The lone manner in which they can be separated is by skiding them apart. In the same manner, every bit long as a thin bed of fluid separates the lungs from the chest wall, the lungs are held unfastened. When the chest expands the lungs are pulled out and air is taken into the air sac # 8211 ; 1000000s page 4 of a bantam air pouch in the lungs, each surrounded by all right capillaries ( blood vass ) where the exchange of O and C dioxide takes topographic point. When we exhale the rib musculuss relax bit by bit. If we were to loosen up wholly, the lungs would jump back quickly. If air gets into the infinite between the lungs and the chest wall, the surface tenseness is broke and the lung collapses. If the liner membrane becomes inflamed or irritated it may bring forth an surplus of fluid which accumulates in the infinite between the lungs and the thorax. Commonly called # 8216 ; fluid on the lungs # 8217 ; , its medical description is a pleural gush. In the air sac, the exchange of O and C dioxide takes topographic point in less than one # 8211 ; ten percent of a 2nd. Oxygen is taken up by haemoglobin in the blood and the ruddy cells discharge their burden of C dioxide back into the alveoli, to be exhaled by the lungs. Lung Structure And Disorders In a normal lung, O from the air is transferred to the capillaries that environment each air sac. Some lung upsets include pneumonia, emphysema, asthma, bronchitis, and lung malignant neoplastic disease. Pneumonia is where the air pouchs are filled with fluid ; emphysema is where the walls of the air sacs interruption down ; asthma is when muscular walls of the bronchioles are narrowed ; bronchitis is where the bronchial tube fills with mucous secretion. In grownups, bronchitis and emphysema are by far the commonest thorax conditions in Western states. Over the last decennary great advancement has been made in bar and page 5 intervention of several of import malignant neoplastic diseases. Lung malignant neoplastic disease is a dissatisfactory exclusion. The lung malignant neoplastic disease decease rate for work forces has increased more than twenty five times since 1935. The figure of lung malignant neoplastic disease instances has more than doubled for both work forces and adult females. Five # 8211 ; twelvemonth endurance rates are non bettering significantly. Possibly the grimmest facet is that most of these malignant neoplastic disease instances would non hold occurred if the victims had non been cigarette tobacco users. Cigarette smoke is unambiguously identified as the chief factor behind the rise of lung malignant neoplastic disease. Merely 10 per centum of all lung malignant neoplastic disease patients are nonsmokers. Certain industrial substances such as asbestos, Ni, Cr, arsenic, radon, and halogenated quintessences besides cause lung malignant neoplastic disease, but smoke is clearly the most of import hazard factor. It is impossible to exaggerate the damaging effects of smoking on wellness. A big figure of factors combine to shorten the lives of coffin nail tobacco users. Smokers have an increased hazard of bosom onslaught, and those tobacco users who do endure bosom onslaughts are less likely to last than nonsmokers. Smokers besides run an increased hazard of shot. The inclination of coffin nails to bring on chronic clogging lung disease has already been mentioned, as has the greatly increased incidence of lung malignant neoplastic disease in tobacco users. And pregnant adult females who smoke are more likely to hold premature or stillborn babies. Smoke is known to increase adult male # 8217 ; s liability to many potentially fatal or disenabling lung upsets, including malignant neoplastic disease, emphysema and bronchitis. Typically, after old ages of smoke, pink, healthy lungs turn black. page 6 Our lungs are indispensable to life, yet they are often misused # 8211 ; subjected to smoke or industrial pollution. Stoping smoke, although non a remedy for lung disease, is decidedly a preventative step.

The Death Of Ivan Illych Essays - House Of Romanov, Soviet Films

The Death Of Ivan Illych The short story, The Death of Ivan Ilych, written by Leo Tolstoy, is about the reactions of a man and his friends to his suffering and death. Everyone who knows Ivan including Ivan himself has led a life of total disconcern for the feelings and sufferings of others. They all lead shallow lives not daring to probe into the feelings deep down inside for fear of stepping outside the lines of propriety. That is the biggest rule that people of that society follow. Do not say or show what you are thinking. Ivan Ilych's attitude toward life is the same all the way up to his death. He was as the author put it, ...a capable, good-natured, and social man, though strict in the fulfillment of what he considered his duty: and he considered his duty to be what was so considered by those in authority. (p. 1088) That quote states that Ivan was solely concerned with his duties and his advancement in position by following the orders of his authorities. Ivan was son of a successful man who held many positions in many departments. That man, Ilya Epimovich Golovin, had three sons. The oldest followed his father's example and was a success. The youngest son was a total failure. He had blown many opportunities and was the shame of the family. Ivan the middle son was the better of the two. Ivan was a mix of his two brothers. He had the hard-working spirit of the older brother but also appreciates the value of a good time like the younger brother. Ivan's career grew steadily. In a short time, he eventually obtained the position of examining magistrate. Ivan did very well in this position. He excelled in the separation of the personal duties in his life and the official duties to which he was totally dedicated. This taste of power which came with his new position was very appealing to Ivan. The idea that writing a few words or giving a simple command sent people into motion made Ivan very happy. Upon moving to a new town to take up the position of examining magistrate, Ivan met his future wife, Praskovya Fedorovna Mikhel. Ivan saw her as a ...well connected, and was a sweet, pretty, and thoroughly correct young woman. The view that she was so within the lines of propriety was the most attractive feature which this young woman possessed in Ivan's view. At first the marriage which Ivan thought couldn't hurt his pleasure-seeking life didn't, then according to Ivan she began to disturb the pleasure and propriety of his life. This ordeal only worsened when his wife became pregnant. She became unbearable to him, overly jealous and coarse, becoming an obstacle to his pursuit of happiness and properness. When the child was born, Ivan realized that a life totally separate his family life would be necessary to fulfill the goals he set for himself. He also came to the realization that to keep his marriage in order that he was going to have to adopt the same attitude to his family that he has to his official duties. Ivan developed an attitude towards his family of complete indifference as stated in the story, He only required of it those conveniences---dinner at home, housewife, and bed---which it could give him. (p. 1092) More children arrived and his wife's attitude only worsened. After three years and becoming a highly looked upon official he received a promotion to the position of Assistant Public Prosecutor. This new promotion made Ivan like his job even more. Meanwhile, more children were born which made Ivan's life even more difficult. After getting another promotion and moving to another province, the marriage was getting increasingly difficult. To try and overcome this Ivan decided to spend some time in the country with his wife. This move turns out to be a very bad one. Ivan falls into deep depression and decides that some drastic measures are needed. He returns from the country heading towards St. Petersburg with the objective of obtaining a salary of 5,000 rubles a year. Things worked out very much in his favor. He got a promotion two steps above his former position. After obtaining this position, he returned to the country and his marriage life improved immensely. Ivan then proceeded to the province to which they were moving to attempt to locate a house. He found one which suited his tastes perfectly. Ivan turned his attention towards furnishing his house. He searched for all the things which give his house

CREATING A NARRATED BOOK TRAILER

CREATING A NARRATED BOOK TRAILER I wanted a book trailer to promote my third picture book, Silly Frilly Grandma Tillie, illustrated There were two books I consulted before undertaking the creation of the trailer: Katie Daviss ebook, â€Å"How to Promote Your Children’s Book† and Darcy Pattison’s ebook, â€Å"The Book Trailer Manual†. My goal wasn’t to replicate the text of the story in the trailer, but to give viewers a feel for the characters and the plot in a very short space of time- an oral summary. The publisher’s blurb for the book was a helpful starting point but it was directed to adults. My script needed to be more child friendly and shorter. Both Davis and Pattison recommend keeping trailers to a minute or less; Pattison says images should not be on screen for more than five seconds. The final (I thought) version of the script read like a mini-movie- for each â€Å"scene† was a visual image (one of Anne Jewett’s fabulous illustrations), followed For those who are technologically challenged, like me, the website lynda.com is a good source for tutorials on using iMovie and Garage Band- a month of lessons was well worth the twenty-five dollar fee. Recording voiceovers in GarageBand is relatively simple- follow a few steps and controls will appear with record, play and rewind functions that operate like any standard recording device. Though the editing options on GarageBand are much more detailed, even a non-techie like me could easily shorten or remove sections of audio clips. The greater challenge was getting my voice right. Writing each line of script on a notecard and taping the notecard to the top of my screen was helpful, as were underlining the words I wanted to emphasize and indicating whether my voice should rise or lower at the end of a line (professional voice artists definitely deserve respect). Despite all this work, when the audio was incorporated into iMovie, there was a major problem- my audio still took up too much space. I eliminated some sound effects and some spoken lines. To more easily match the length of the narration with the corresponding image, I recorded the voiceovers directly in iMovie. This again was simple to do- select the microphone image and click on the record button. There is a three second delay until the recording begins. Repeating the first word of my line several times during this delay helped eliminate awkward pauses and throat clearing noises when I began speaking. The process of creating a narrated book trailer for the first time took many hours, but it was well worth the effort. I learned how to make podcasts, how to edit video clips, how to combine images and sound. Trust me, if I can do it, you can too! You can view the trailer on my website at www.laurieajacobs.com

Despite the decrease in gross profit to sales ratio, the net profit of the company has increased by ?16.210 million. The primary reason behind the increase in the net profit is the fact that during the current financial year the company did not incur any cost during the current year on corporate restructuring. The increase in net profit is due to the fact that during the current year the company did not incur any exceptional cost which it had incurred during the year prior to that on strategic restructuring. If we analyze the financial year 2009, there has been a major decrease in the profit after tax. This

Economy and Nightlife Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Economy and Nightlife - Essay Example Today, we can witness a number of changes and growing trends that characterize the economies of varied countries. Globalization and the growth of industries have led to a new culture of sorts---the infusion of night-life and the MNC culture in various countries, especially the developing nations that are growing accustomed to these changes. This cultural change has brought about an impact on the economy and the market conditions, as well. This paper strives to highlight this new phenomenon and links nightlife to the growth of the economy. The blossoming of 'night-life' and such other related phenomenon took place in the 1980s, when companies began looking for across-the-border initiatives and began perceiving the whole world as a global village. Let us analyse the causes for the growth of night-life, in order to comprehend its importance and how it has been an instrument of change in affecting the economy. Firstly, the changing structures of the cities contributed immensely to the linear setting up of producers and consumers. For instance, the central market areas of cities were cleared and shifted to other regions, which led to a change in not only the physical structure, but also in the culture of the cities. " Later on, this led to the capital construction and restructuring of cities, that paved way for greater potential. Hanging on in many cities in the mid-1970s the central business districts (CBDs) represented a fixed capital that companies were extremely reluctant to write off. This was not just in terms of buildings but also of land." (Harvey, 1985a; 1989). Secondly, growing competition among various cities to create a mark and an image for themselves, not only on the national level, but also in t he newly found global market led to a number of changes. In addition it created tensions within the local polity as planners trained to deal with the city as a system of objective factors (Hall, 1988) were faced with notions of urban cultures and spaces that few were equipped to deal with. Thirdly, the boom in consumption and the growth of the importance of consumerism led to this new culture. The cities oriented themselves in terms fo consumption and not production, which led to a new lease of cultural milieu. In the 1980s the (unevenly) revalorized city centre emerged as a new landscape of buildings, enterprises and signs concerned with the organisation and exploitation of consumption. This economy of consumption (distribution and marketing), unlike the economy of the production and exchange of goods (manufacturing and trade) had a much looser relationship to the local area. [Cities and the Night-time Economy, ANDY LOVATT & JUSTIN O'CONNOR]. Finally, the newly emergent culture as a result

Dealing with Evil Essay Example for Free

Dealing with Evil Essay After the World War II the planet has been divided by the Iron Curtain into two antagonistic camps: the communist countries, headed by the USSR and the capitalistic countries, headed by the USA. The struggle between two systems took forms of economic competition, ideological dispute, armament race and even local armed conflicts. Both leaders aimed to spread their influence at every possible region and attract carry over every possible country. At that they often paid little attention to home policy of a particular state concentrating exclusively on their ability to control it. Declaring their desire for democracy both the USA and the USSR often supported authoritarian and totalitarian regimes. This paper shall review some examples when the US cooperated with undemocratic rulers and demonstrate the necessity of such cooperation in order to stop the communist expansion. In one of the global key-points – the Middle East the USA did a lot to support an unpopular regime of the Shah of Iran. Between 1945 and 1979 Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Shah of Iran, conducted a policy of westernization and close ties with the United States. His rule has been marked by growing poorness of the population and total corruption of the state officials. Failure of economic reforms has only compounded the crisis. Under such conditions the communist party gained increasing popularity among the people of Iran. However, despite of Shah’s authoritarism, the USA instructed him when he removed a democratically elected government in 1953, as well as later in his actions. Only in 1977 the President has sent â€Å"a polite reminder† to the Shah about the necessity to take care of human rights . In response the Shah has freed some political prisoners and allowed the Red Cross to operate in Iran. Those measures appeared to be late and the Shah has been overthrown in 1979. Between 1940 and 1959 the USA favored a regime of l Ruben Fulgencio Batista at Cuba, preferring to have a dictator rather than a communist country just a few miles away. Batista has been provided with funds for electoral campaign. The CIA assisted Batista in detecting and destroying his opponents. However, Batista’s regime appeared to be so unpopular among the people of Cuba, that it has been destroyed by a small group of guerillas lead by Fidel Castro in 1959 . Another example of support rendered by the USA to totalitarian leader is cooperation with the regime of Mobutu Sese Seko in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo ). Mobutu’s attitude to Soviet Union was rather frosty because of the Soviet support of local rebels. So he has chosen to strengthen the relationships with America and Belgium – a former mother-country of Zaire. The US was third largest donor to Zaire economy. Even despite of Mobutu’s warlike rhetoric and poor human rights record, Zaire received almost 50% of US assistance to sub-Sahara countries in the times of President Carter. America also directly cooperated with Mobutu during inner conflicts by providing supplies and transporting Belgian paratroopers . Nevertheless after collapse of the USSR the USA has found it unnecessary to further work with Mobutu and he was even refused of American visa. In contrast he was now suppressed to democratize his regime. And without outside assistance he has been overthrown in 1994. In total, the attitude of the USA to friendly dictators can be characterized by a rude but frank phrase of Franklin D. Roosevelt: â€Å"He may be a son of a bitch, but he’s our son of a bitch†. In the titanic struggle with communism political loyalty was a priority in comparison to observation of human rights. REFERNCES 1. Analysis of Presentation on Nature as Female :: Gender Sex Female Male Essays Papers

Analysis of Presentation on Nature as Female I found the presentation on Nature as Female to be very interesting, because the topic asks as many questions as it answers. The question of why nature is gendered, I believe, is inextricably rooted in language. Language determines everything our experiences, our perceptions, our beliefs, and our desires. In a class I took last term we spoke about Lacan and his theory about language determining our desires, and it made sense to me, because you cannot desire what you cannot name. In the same way, language determines our beliefs about the world. In an anthropology course I took, there was a study about this Navajo tribe that demonstrated a profound understanding of quantum physics, without ever having been taught it. The linguists believed that this was because of their language. Their language determined their perception of the world, and thus allowed them to understand it in a vastly different way then people who speak English or French, for example. The example that was given to try to explain the difference was that instead of calling grass "grass", the Navajos would call it "growing green that reaches up to the sky". In their process of naming it as such, their concept of grass is different than our concept of grass. Do you understand the difference that language can make, just in how things are named and described? Another example that was given was how Chinese children displayed far greater mathematical understanding compared to English speaking children, and the disparity was traced back to language. The argument here is that language determines our conceptualization of numbers. In English, we say ten, twenty, thirty†¦etc. The word "twenty" gives no indication that it means "two tens". In Chinese, however, the words do give this indication (one-ten, two-ten, three-ten†¦etc). Language is so innate in us that we forget its power. But realizing how language exerts itself over everything, it is easy to understand how our conceptualization of nature as female has come to be. Our concept is a result of our language, which determines our understanding of the world. In the English language there are gendered words, which necessarily influence our belief about what they signify. Thus we say "mother nature" and without a second thought we understand nature to be female. In just that one word "mother", nature becomes conceptualized for us as female. Thus, our understanding about nature is based on this belief.

Naturalization of Undocumented Immigrant

Prof. Alexandru November 18, 2013 Communications Immigration Laws Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to Central Idea: The immigration system needs to be reformed. Introduction l. â€Å"Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. † These words are engraved on the Statue of Liberty that was assembled in 1886. The statue was meant to be a beacon of hope for all immigrants that enter the U. S. Hope for opportunities, a better life, a better home. But can we really say that's what they are given?II. A big issue that has been focused on lately by the government is Immigration law reform. For this speech I have done research about immigration laws and how they affect undocumented immigrants. Ill. A recent study conducted by the Pew Research Center in Washington, D. C. has found that there has been an increase of unauthorized immigrants in the United States since the end of recession in 2009, which means there a lot more people that live in the United States that will be affected. This can also be said that everyone in California can be affected by these laws because we are a border state, which usually get a larger influx of immigrants. ‘V. Today I would like to tell you about the serious issues with present day mmigration laws and persuade you to help reform them. First I will explain what immigration laws are and their purposes. Then I will tell you about some of those laws, and how they affect undocumented immigrants and society. And I will end with why and how you can help to make a difference. Body (So what are immigration laws? ) l.Immigration laws were created to regulate who and what may come into the United States. According the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, this is to protect us in four different major ways: public safety, public health, Jobs, and national ecurity. A. Ever since 1960, creating laws based on public safety, is to ensure that immigrants that may be potential prostitute s, polygamists, sexual deviates, or criminals would not be allowed to cross our borders. B. For Public Health, there are laws that prevent contagious diseases epidemics or people with potentially dangerous mental diseases.C. To ensure our Jobs are secure, laws are created to keep immigration from depressing wages too much. D. And National Security – Foreigners who would harm the country cannot come here, but the definition of who terrorists, for instance. Now let's talking about some actual immigration laws) V. Immigration laws vary on circumstances and we have to remember that every law always have exceptions. Every law also has flaws. Now I'm going to tell you about two laws that I found alarming. A. The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that close to 400,000 US citizens marry a non-U.S. citizen. When a United States' citizen gets married to a person from a different country, there is a long process that the couple has to go through to prove their marriage and plenty of petitions need to be filled out to gain citizenship. A. l . The process and analysis of the couples were not at all alarming me until I ran across an article that went into detail about transgender spouses, who not only had to deal with the naturalization process but also the process specifying their gender.

Samuel Slater and the Textile Revolution

Samuel Slater is an American inventor who was born on June 9, 1768.  He built several successful cotton mills in New England and established the town of Slatersville, Rhode Island.  His accomplishments have led many to consider him to be the Father of American Industry and the Founder of the American Industrial Revolution.   Coming to America During the United States early years,  Benjamin Franklin and the Pennsylvania Society for the Encouragement of Manufactures and Useful Arts offered cash prizes for any inventions that improved the textile industry in America. At the time, Slater was a young man living In Milford, England who heard that inventive genius was rewarded in America and decided to emigrate. At the age of 14, he had been an apprentice to Jedediah Strutt, a partner of Richard Arkwright  and  was employed in the counting-house and the textile mill, where he learned a lot about the textile business. Slater defied the British law against the emigration of textile workers in order to seek his fortune in America. He arrived in New York in 1789  and wrote to Moses Brown of Pawtucket to offer his services as a textile expert. Brown invited Slater to Pawtucket to see whether he could run the spindles that Brown had bought from the men of Providence. If thou canst do what thou sayest, wrote Brown, I invite thee to come to Rhode Island. Arriving in Pawtucket in 1790, Slater declared the machines worthless and convinced Almy and Brown that he knew the textile business enough to him a partner. Without drawings or models of any English textile machinery, he proceeded to build machines himself. On December 20, 1790, Slater had built carding, drawing, roving machines and two seventy-two spindled spinning frames. A water-wheel taken from an old mill furnished the power. Slaters new machinery worked and worked well. Spinning Mills and the Textile Revolution This was the birth of the spinning industry in the United States. The new textile mill dubbed the Old Factory was built at Pawtucket in 1793. Five years later, Slater and others built a second mill. And in 1806, after Slater was joined by his brother, he built another. Workmen came to work for Slater solely to learn about his machines and then left him to set up textile mills for themselves. Mills were built not only in New England but in other States. By 1809, there were 62 spinning mills in operation in the country, with thirty-one thousand spindles and twenty-five more mills being built or in the planning stages. Soon enough, the industry was firmly established in the United States. The yarn was sold to housewives for domestic use or  to professional weavers who made cloth for sale. This industry continued for years. Not only in New England, but also in those other parts of the country where spinning machinery had been introduced. In 1791, Slater married  Hannah Wilkinson, who would go on to invent two-ply thread and become the first American woman to receive a patent. Slater and Hannah had 10 children together, although four died during infancy. Hannah Slater died in 1812 from complications of childbirth, leaving her husband with six young children to raise. Slater would marry for a second time in 1817 to a widow named Esther Parkinson.

American Revolution The Boston Massacre

In the years following the French and Indian War, the Parliament increasingly sought ways to alleviate the financial burden caused by the conflict. Assessing methods for raising funds, it was decided to levy new taxes on the American colonies with the goal of offsetting some of the cost for their defense. The first of these, the Sugar Act of 1764, was quickly met by outrage from colonial leaders who claimed taxation without representation, as they had no members of Parliament to represent their interests. The following year, Parliament passed the Stamp Act which called for tax stamps to be placed on all paper goods sold in the colonies. The first attempt to apply a direct tax to the North American colonies, the Stamp Act was met with widespread protests. Across the colonies, new protest groups, known as the Sons of Liberty formed to fight the new tax. Uniting in the fall of 1765, colonial leaders appealed to Parliament stating that as they had no representation in Parliament, the tax was unconstitutional and against their rights as Englishmen. These efforts led to the Stamp Acts repeal in 1766, though Parliament quickly issued the Declaratory Act which stated that they retained the power to tax the colonies. Still seeking additional revenue, Parliament passed the Townshend Acts in June 1767. These placed indirect taxes on various commodities such as lead, paper, paint, glass, and tea. Again citing taxation without representation, the Massachusetts legislature sent a circular letter to their counterparts in the other colonies asking them to join in resisting the new taxes. London Responds In London, the Colonial Secretary, Lord Hillsborough, responded by directing colonial governor to dissolve their legislatures if they responded to the circular letter. Sent in April 1768, this directive also ordered the Massachusetts legislature to rescind the letter. In Boston, customs officials began to feel increasingly threatened which led their chief, Charles Paxton, to request a military presence in the city. Arriving in May, HMS Romney (50 guns) took up a station in the harbor and immediately angered Bostons citizens when it began impressing sailors and intercepting smugglers. Romney was joined that fall by four infantry regiments which were dispatched to the city by General Thomas Gage. While two were withdrawn the following year, the 14th and 29th Regiments of Foot remained in 1770. As military forces began to occupy Boston, colonial leaders organized boycotts of the taxed goods in an effort to resist the Townshend Acts. The Mob Forms Tensions in Boston remained high in 1770 and worsened on February 22 when young Christopher Seider was killed by Ebenezer Richardson. A customs official, Richardson had randomly fired into a mob that had gathered outside his house hoping to make it disperse. Following a large funeral, arranged by Sons of Liberty leader Samuel Adams, Seider was interred at the Granary Burying Ground. His death, along with a burst of anti-British propaganda, badly inflamed the situation in the city and led many to seek confrontations with British soldiers. On the night of March 5, Edward Garrick, a young wigmakers apprentice, accosted Captain Lieutenant John Goldfinch near the Custom House and claimed that the officer had not paid his debts. Having settled his account, Goldfinch ignored the taunt. This exchange was witnessed by Private Hugh White who was standing guard at the Custom House. Leaving his post, White exchanged insults with Garrick before striking him in the head with his musket. As Garrick fell, his friend, Bartholomew Broaders, took up the argument. With tempers rising, the two men created a scene and a crowd began to gather. In an effort to quiet the situation, local book merchant Henry Knox informed White that if he fired his weapon he would be killed. Withdrawing to safety of the Custom House stairs, White awaited aid. Nearby, Captain Thomas Preston received word of Whites predicament from a runner. Blood on the Streets Gathering a small force, Preston departed for the Custom House. Pushing through the growing crowd, Preston reached White and directed his eight men to form a semi-circle near the steps. Approaching the British captain, Knox implored him to control his men and reiterated his earlier warning that if his men fired he would be killed. Understanding the delicate nature of the situation, Preston responded that he was aware of that fact. As Preston yelled at the crowd to disperse, he and his men were pelted with rocks, ice, and snow. Seeking to provoke a confrontation, many in the crowd repeatedly yelled Fire! Standing before his men, Preston was approached by Richard Palmes, a local innkeeper, who inquired if the soldiers weapons were loaded. Preston confirmed that they were but also indicated that he was unlikely to order them to fire as he was standing in front of them. Shortly thereafter, Private Hugh Montgomery was hit with an object that caused him to fall and drop his musket. Angered, he recovered his weapon and yelled Damn you, fire! before shooting into the mob. After a brief pause, his compatriots began firing into the crowd though Preston had not given orders to do so. In the course of the firing, eleven were hit with three being killed instantly. These victims were James Caldwell, Samuel Gray, and runaway slave Crispus Attucks. Two of the wounded, Samuel Maverick and Patrick Carr, died later. In the wake of the firing, the crowd withdrew to the neighboring streets while elements of the 29th Foot moved to Prestons aid. Arriving on the scene, Acting Governor Thomas Hutchinson worked to restore order. The Trials Immediately beginning an investigation, Hutchison bowed to public pressure and directed that British troops be withdrawn to Castle Island. While the victims were laid to rest with great public fanfare, Preston and his men were arrested on March 27. Along with four locals, they were charged with murder. As tensions in the city remained dangerously high, Hutchinson worked to delay their trial until later in the year. Through the summer, a propaganda war was waged between the Patriots and Loyalists as each side tried to influence opinion abroad. Eager to build support for their cause, the colonial legislature endeavored to ensure that the accused received a fair trial. After several notable Loyalist attorneys refused to defend Preston and his men, the task was accepted by well-known Patriot lawyer John Adams. To assist in the defense, Adams selected Sons of Liberty leader Josiah Quincy II, with the organizations consent, and Loyalist Robert Auchmuty. They were opposed by Massachusetts Solicitor General Samuel Quincy and Robert Treat Paine. Tried separately from his men, Preston faced the court in October. After his defense team convinced the jury that he had not ordered his men to fire, he was acquitted. The following month, his men went to court. During the trial, Adams argued that if the soldiers were threatened by the mob, they had a legal right to defend themselves. He also pointed out that if they were provoked, but not threatened, the most they could be guilty of was manslaughter. Accepting his logic, the jury convicted Montgomery and Private Matthew Kilroy of manslaughter and acquitted the rest. Invoking the benefit of clergy, the two men were publically branded on the thumb rather than imprisoned. Aftermath Following the trials, tension in Boston remained high. Ironically, on March 5, the same day as the massacre, Lord North introduced a bill in Parliament that called for a partial repeal of the Townshend Acts. With the situation in the colonies reaching a critical point, Parliament eliminated most aspects of the Townshend Acts in April 1770, but left a tax on tea. Despite this, conflict continued to brew. It would come to head in 1774 following the Tea Act and the Boston Tea Party. In the months after the latter, Parliament passed a series of punitive laws, dubbed the Intolerable Acts, which set the colonies and Britain firmly on the path to war. The American Revolution would begin on April 19, 1775, when to two sides first clashed at Lexington and Concord. The Presentation of Mr. Brocklehurst in Brontes Jane...

The Presentation of Mr. Brocklehurst in Brontes Jane Eyre Chapter seven sees Jane slightly more experienced to the ways of Lowood School. She has come to accept the poor conditions laid down by Mr. Brocklehurst, however has not yet learnt to ignore them and Bronte describes Jane suffering a lot in this chapter. This lack of food and appalling living conditions are down to the head of the school, Mr. Brocklehurst. This man uses his apparent strong beliefs in Christianity as an excuse to provide the children of Lowood with the absolute bare minimum. Brocklehurst claims his â€Å"mission is to mortify in these girls the lusts of the flesh†, presenting the idea that perhaps Brocklehurst is simply a man that has a immensely firm grasp of his†¦show more content†¦nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Shortly after, Brocklehurst gives a short lecture to Miss. Temple in a civil tone, however he maintains a superior, self-obsessed tone throughout. His beliefs are directly spoonfed to the reader here, he simply reels them off and this is where the readers initial interpretation of Brocklehurst simply being an immensely cruel man with no empathy whatsoever is replaced with a view of him being a religious fanatic. He is not portrayed as hypocritical at this stage, simply quite obsessive towards his beliefs. It is possible to interpret him as a decent human being here, as it appears he genuinely believes that unless the girls live a life following a set of standards like what he is putting across here they will without go to hell. The girls had recently been prepared extra food after their breakfast was spoilt. He states that a quot;judiscious instructorquot; would take this oppurtunity to refer to the quot;suffering of primitive christiansquot; and the quot;torments of martyrsquot;, suggesting that he genuinely believes he is creating faithful mart yrs out of the girls by treating them like this. Mona Lisa Compare Contrast Free Essays

In the 14th century, a new cultural movement known as the Renaissance began. Young Leonardo Dad Vinci constructed a portrait known as the Mona Lisa. This painting is arguably the most famous painting of time. We will write a custom essay sample on Mona Lisa Compare Contrast or any similar topic only for you Order Now Now in the 21st century, a fresh artist â€Å"Abstract,† has developed a similar work of art associated to the Mona Lisa known as â€Å"Wonder’s Finest. † With both pieces of work containing the same subject along with different time periods, there is no doubt that both of these paintings contain it’s differences and similarities accordingly to their centuries. The differences include the backgrounds, the different colors, and the way â€Å"Mona Lisa,† is represented. The Mona Lisa has its many mysteries, but none other than it’s background and landscape. The landscape of the Mona Alias’s painting describes both the negative and positive viewpoints on society during the time of the Renaissance period. To the left of the artwork, represents a green healthy environment with a river signaling the peace and tranquility of the time period. To the right of the landscape, a dry wasted and appears with a bridge. This represents a switch of spirit between good and evil. It foreshadows the period to when Medici took over Florence through tyranny and took over the Pope’s spot in Italy. In comparison with â€Å"Wonder’s Finest,† it too shows a spiritual battle between evil and good. The angel is trying to lure â€Å"Mona Local,† back from the wraths of the demon and beneath the window, appears a garden of peace and tranquility. In today’s society, it’s that same type of conflict. We live in a spiritual oral between God and the devil as both trying to win the souls of mankind. The morality of this abstract reveals how the devil has almost completely claimed the life of once-innocent Mona Lisa. The background suggests that those who have fallen to the devil are now trapped within the deserts of Egypt. The bottles of alcohol suggests that her life has been consumed by heavy drinking as well. In the original Mona Lisa painting, the female who is drawn is a light-hearted madam who smile and body position describe who she is, what she is living and why s she living it. In the artwork â€Å"Mona Lisa,† the light colors represent lightness in her life and heart. Although, the painting features both light and evil colors, the amount of light represented outshines the darkness. Her smile represents the goodness in her heart. Also, it represents the mood as she has successfully defeated the darkness of those ages. Her black dress with the golden sleeves represent a a well respected housewife. Both paintings suggest Mona Lisa and Mona Local were well fascinated by their breasts. They both expose the cleavage of breasts presuming to the seduction of men. In contrast, â€Å"Mona Local,† is a straight on where Just by how she was drawn with the naughtiest position and dark image. The black and gray colors symbolize the dead soul inside of her. Her posture sells her out completely. Her legs are wide open and her exposed breasts explaining the hustler business she runs. The light colors by the near side window can be explained as to her life in a different dimension. The life where she dreams of going, but yet sees it so far away due to her condition. The clothing she wears are fishnets attached with dirty money, with a short skirt and a see-through bra. Her face melting away is a clear sign she is almost disappearing from this world. I have seen thousands of paintings, but none like these two. Both of the painting share it’s extremes coincidences in differences and similarities that tie both paintings together to society. It is crazy to think that young inspired artists drew these not knowingly the effect they would have on society through it’s interpretation. How to cite Mona Lisa Compare Contrast, Papers

Corporate Communication Plan for Samsung Company †Free Sample

Question: Discuss about the Corporate Communication Plan for Samsung Company . Answer: Introduction A communication plan plays an integral role in the success of any business project. Cornelissen (2011) argues thatit is an essential document for complex and high-risk company tasks and as such it is imperative for the person left with the responsibility of preparing the communication program to ensure that all pertinent details are captured and issued to the relevant parties timely and in the most appealing presentation possible. This plan is mainly used to describe how the organization's stakeholders among other interested publics either internal or external will be kept informed during the business project (Society for Human Resource Management, 2006). Stakeholder identification The recall project of the company will be influenced and affected by various interested groups both internal and external. In order to provide Samsung with the basis for figuring out the point at which a concession or a standard benefit will meet, the Corporation is committed to a plan of analyzing the relevant stakeholders listed in accordance with their significance and their individual interests (Argenti, 2007). Shareholders- During the lifetime of the project Samsung Company will present the shareholders with efficiently-presented facts and figures since their interests are value-based. These individuals are expected to make their decisions hoping that the business task of recalling products will not result in any loss or side effects (Westland, 2007). The customers- The primary interest of the clients in the recalling task is the value of the new products offered as well as their safety. In addition, they are expecting the company's decision of replacing original devices will be cost-effective and result in maximum benefit. Suppliers, creditors and insurance providers- These parties take the risk of providing support to the entity. The replacement mission of Samsung Company will aim at protecting their interests by avoiding subjecting them to additional threats or losses (Kloppenborg, 2015). Objective and scope of the communication plan This communication plan aims at outlining the strategies and methodologies to be employed for the recalling task communication, distribution of information as well as how the project will be managed throughout its epoch (Project Management Institute, 2008). The principal objects of this communication program are to: Share information among the involved parties and create alignment with external shareholders to ease replacement of the initial devices and maintain customer loyalty in the products of Samsung. Identify and enhance a strategy to inform significant stakeholders. Maintain the mission of transformation of the corporations products. Manage relevant information and expectations of various interested parties (Marchewka, 2015). This communication plan will cover: Information distribution- How relevant information will be disseminated to all parties involved in the project. Communication planning-It will cover the information requirements of various stakeholders, the time they need it, format, suitable means as well as how to receive message and feedback Stakeholder management- Recognition of different task stakeholders, evaluation of their needs and interests in the company (Vandenbosch, 2003). Various formal and informal communication channels In the course of the devices replacement project, the company will employ both formal and informal communication channels. Official communications within the organization will be executed through well-known channels following a chain of command to transmit information such as the objectives, procedures, and policies of Samsung in the recalling project (Berman, 2007). Besides, the organization will make use of informal communication networks which are not based upon any set measures thus they will allow the involved parties to take inventiveness into their own hands. Informal communication channels are employed during this replacement project to enable people to come up with ideologies and plans to make the whole task successful (Sengupta, 2011). Examples of formal communication channels that Samsung purposes to utilize in this mission include circulars, minutes, board conferences and a companys newsletter that will be providing the staff members as well as customers with its set goals and vision in the replacement project (Russell, 2000). In addition, in an attempt to back up the efforts of the annual reports and employers manual, Samsung will conduct client satisfaction surveys all which will encompass formal communication networks. However, the corporation has thought it wise to consider the merits and demerits associated with various official communication channels to test their suitability and effectiveness during the execution of the recalling project (DuBrin, 2009). Advantages of formal communication channels Secure communication systems among the top level executives and the employees Quick task accomplishment since they enable various parties to communicate with ease Ease of coordination and cooperation of activities throughout the lifetime of the project Disadvantages of formal communication channels Inflexibility since these communication systems do not allow somebody to change their views when the need be. Lack of initiative hence deprived creativeness of employees because everybody is expected to do their duty by adhering to a predetermined set system (UNEP Dams and Development Project, 2007). Moreover, informal communication channels are considered suitable for the devices recalling process since they empower members handling routine customer issues and problems in various branches around the world. Informal discussions will mainly take place among the staff members to exchange their individual views primarily to satisfy the social needs of product buyers (Glenn, 2014). Examples of such communications include grapevine network which spreads throughout the firm and in every direction without putting into consideration the levels of authority. It is through grapevine that rumors will go around and deliberations which will transform into friendships outside the company (Lu, 2003). Besides, Samsung will include other informal communication platforms such as Twitter, Videos, Cartoons, and Facebook. Advantages of informal communication Speedy and spontaneous because information flows in these systems will be faster comparatively. Helps in establishing social relationships as they offer different parties a chance to associate well in a free environment Informal communication networks will aid in supplementing formal channels since there are some matters which cannot be communicated formally. Disadvantages of informal communication Unreliable information since most of the messages received through these systems are not relevant Informal communication networks may lead to the disclosure of confidential information which can be deemed detrimental to the company ( Heldman, Cram, 2004). Commentary about how I will critically evaluate the effectiveness of your communications plan. In an attempt to ensure a splendid communication strategy during the companys project, I will conduct a thorough evaluation of this communication plan both during its execution and after its implementation. Carrying out the evaluation during the implementation will allow me to make necessary adjustments and response to new information during the project (Doak, Doak, In Fischhoff, In Brewer, In Downs, United States, 2011). Conducting analysis after its execution will most probably provide me with valuable lessons for future company projects. Evaluation of this communication strategy will take place throughout the project lifetime through holding regular official meetings to acquire updates and identify more needs of various interested parties. Another way I will evaluate the plan is through interactions with the customers and other target groups involved in the process (Haddow, Haddow, 2014). Conclusion A communication plan is a critical tool for the success of any business project. This strategy highlights imperative intricacies deemed essential throughout the lifetime of the organization task. For instance, Samsung after a careful adherence to the details included in this communication plan will be able to meet the needs of all affected customers by recalling some devices posing a safety risk to them. Besides, as depicted in the paper, a communication plan includes various information flow channels which can be used in the process as well as their merits and demerits. Summarily this program serves as a valuable tool for revealing critical details before the actual implementation of the project. References Cornelissen, J. (2011).
